The audience thought a goal was coming when Bater Palma got free with Marcelo Gröhe in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 42 minutes into the match, 20 DE SETEMBRO's goal looked a bit too open when Gildo Cearense came free, but Marcelo Gröhe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marcelo Gröhe made a fantastic save in the 47th minute, when Bater Palma sent off a good shot on target. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bater Palma stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Gildo Cearense hit a great ball. After 69 played minutes, CE LAJEADENSE RS's Caetano Saad shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Marcelo Gröhe came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in CE LAJEADENSE RS reached it. The supporters of 20 DE SETEMBRO booed when CE LAJEADENSE RS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Caetano Saad didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marcelo Gröhe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bater Palma in the 72nd minute of play. In the 73rd match minute, CE LAJEADENSE RS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leonel Martins to maneuver through the defense. Marcelo Gröhe didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bater Palma went, in the 76th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. If Bater Palma had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bater Palma in the 80th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marcelo Gröhe prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Marcelo Gröhe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bater Palma, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match clock showed 91 minutes, the score became 3-1 when Giuseppe Pinheiro sped through 20 DE SETEMBRO's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Marcelo Gröhe. The audience thought a goal was coming when Teodoro de Alcântara got free with Adam Doykin in the 96th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. CE LAJEADENSE RS's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
