Romário Dantas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gogo Lesardo, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Gogo Lesardo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Alfa FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Gogo Lesardo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Romário Dantas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gogo Lesardo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Romário Dantas made a huge save. If Gogo Lesardo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gogo Lesardo in the 40th minute of play forced Laranja EC's goalkeeper Romário Dantas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 41st minute Gogo Lesardo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Romário Dantas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Esteban Lobo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Romário Dantas having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gogo Lesardo made a kick off. The supporters of Alfa FC booed when Laranja EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vitório Pimenta didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Laranja EC's zone, Gogo Lesardo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Romário Dantas came out of the goal and Gogo Lesardo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 58thth minute of the game Gogo Lesardo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Laranja EC's Romário Dantas was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gogo Lesardo in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Romário Dantas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the match clock showed 61 minutes, the score became 3-1 when Gogo Lesardo sped through Laranja EC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Romário Dantas. After 66 minutes of play Laranja EC's Didi Barros was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After a rather tough play, Laranja EC's Didi Barros got a free kick in the 67th minute. Cafu do Nascimento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedrinho de Queirós having to interfere. In the 74th minute Gogo Lesardo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Romário Dantas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cafu do Nascimento hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. The audience was convinced that Ferreirinha Vinhas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Romário Dantas was relentless in the 78th minute of the game.
