Dida Taffarel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cafu do Nascimento, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Perivaldo Amaral during the 9th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 9th minute, Perivaldo Amaral hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Nestor Paraibano managed to get in a good position for a shot. Marquês de Herval's supporters rose to their feet, but Nestor Paraibano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Romário Dantas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredo Martins in the 11th minute of play forced Laranja EC's goalkeeper Romário Dantas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nestor Paraibano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Romário Dantas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alfredo Martins in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Romário Dantas saved Laranja EC from getting behind. It was a well-played corner which German Cano managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. After 32 minutes, Alfredo Martins made it 3-0 with a short kick to the right side. Laranja EC's Romário Dantas tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Romário Dantas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from German Cano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Marquês de Herval fans' excitement grew in the 38th match minute when Marquês de Herval's Nestor Paraibano looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 5-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After some careless play in the Laranja EC defense, Alfredo Martins kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Romário Dantas. The Laranja EC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Romário Dantas should have stopped the shot. Laranja EC's Romário Dantas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfredo Martins in the 71st minute of play. In the 72nd minute, Alfredo Martins made a precise shot to the right of Romário Dantas. Laranja EC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 10-0. Marquês de Herval's Acácio Cunha was substituted for Valentin Vizitiu.
