After 5 minutes A.A. Francana's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Stéphane Ballon who took care of the corner kick. If Zé Pedro Baptista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Zé Pedro Baptista came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Batalhão do Peçanha fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zé Pedro Baptista couldn't finish the play. Renan Melo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Zé Pedro Baptista went, in the 12th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 17th minute, Zé Pedro Baptista made a precise shot to the right of Renan Melo. A.A. Francana's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. After having played for 20 minutes, Zé Pedro Baptista managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Batalhão do Peçanha's supporters crossed their fingers, but Zé Pedro Baptista was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 21 played minutes Batalhão do Peçanha got a freekick which was hit by Epaminondas Baba. Petr Čech made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bernardo Bettencourt in the 24th minute. A.A. Francana's Renan Melo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zé Pedro Baptista in the 34th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Batalhão do Peçanha's zone, Bernardo Bettencourt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Petr Čech came out of the goal and Bernardo Bettencourt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Charlie Boström stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After having played for 58 minutes, Aykut Canel managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. A.A. Francana's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aykut Canel was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Caetano Albuquerque made in the 60th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Batalhão do Peçanha's Epaminondas Baba. Petr Čech stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Charlie Boström's shot from short distance in the 67th minute. Dorival Falcão hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Epaminondas Baba struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Renan Melo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Batalhão do Peçanha. After a defensive mix-up in Batalhão do Peçanha's zone, Bernardo Bettencourt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Petr Čech came out of the goal and Bernardo Bettencourt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Batalhão do Peçanha's Epaminondas Baba got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Aykut Canel in the 87th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Petr Čech saved Batalhão do Peçanha from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in A.A. Francana's zone, Zé Pedro Baptista stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Renan Melo came out of the goal and Zé Pedro Baptista tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Batalhão do Peçanha walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
