Thanks to some nice moves Nistor Conta could shoot a difficult shot in the 18th minute, which Jannes Van Leempoel however easily saved by the left post. In the 26th minute of the match, Ceyhan Kuluk got a very nice opportunity to score, but Jannes Van Leempoel was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Jannes Van Leempoel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ceyhan Kuluk in the 26th minute. After 28 minutes Genk's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Jannes Van Leempoel, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. demir idmanyurdu were awarded a corner in the 37th minute after Genk's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ulvi Nizami took the corner. Ceyhan Kuluk recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 45 minutes into the match, Rain De Hond notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of demir idmanyurdu's Selmo Illescas. Selmo Illescas was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Genk's supporters rose to their feet, but Rain De Hond was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Selmo Illescas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
