When Timo Siegmund fell near the penalty area in the 3rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Switzerland's protests and gave Timo Siegmund a yellow card for diving instead. Hias Nüssli made a fantastic save in the 3rd minute, when Marcus Roggen sent off a good shot on target. Loid Gijsbrechts showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Samuele Kunz, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Johnny Van Hoeyvelt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Hias Nüssli made a huge save. With his leg Hias Nüssli managed to avoid a goal in the 15thth minute, when Young Ostend United's Johnny Van Hoeyvelt fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Switzerland's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Cedrik Neesens 17 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jacinto Maurer in the 23rd minute of play forced Young Ostend United's goalkeeper Loid Gijsbrechts to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Johnny Van Hoeyvelt fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. After having played for 28 minutes, Samuele Kunz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Switzerland's supporters crossed their fingers, but Samuele Kunz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Hias Nüssli was out of position in the 29 minute of play, and Cedrik Neesens capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Cedrik Neesens really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Pino Coryn managed to get in a good position for a shot. Young Ostend United's supporters rose to their feet, but Pino Coryn was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hias Nüssli breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The throw-in from Cedrik Neesens in the 36th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Switzerland's Fridolin Neumeister. Marcus Roggen hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. Loid Gijsbrechts took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Samuele Kunz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 42 minutes into the game, Young Ostend United's Cedrik Neesens nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Hias Nüssli made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Samuele Kunz stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Cedrik Neesens fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hias Nüssli having to interfere. Cedrik Neesens struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. Hias Nüssli didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Young Ostend United. Johnny Van Hoeyvelt blasted a shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hias Nüssli having to make a save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cedrik Neesens in the 73rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hias Nüssli saved Switzerland from getting behind. Jacinto Maurer struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Loid Gijsbrechts didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Switzerland. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Johnny Van Hoeyvelt in the 79th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hias Nüssli prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Cedrik Neesens had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marcus Roggen struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Hias Nüssli didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Young Ostend United. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cedrik Neesens in the 92nd minute of play forced Switzerland's goalkeeper Hias Nüssli to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 93rd minute, Rodrigo von Känel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
