With a couple of smart ball manuevers Måns Sandberg in the 3rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Håkan Åkesson saved Newcastle United F.C. from getting behind. In the 4th minute Måns Sandberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Håkan Åkesson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 8th minute, Måns Sandberg left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Norrlands Athen fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fahhad Al Herz in the 11th minute of play forced Norrlands Athen's goalkeeper Manfred Fribäck to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Måns Sandberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Newcastle United F.C.'s Håkan Åkesson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Måns Sandberg in the 13th minute of play. In the 18thth minute of the game Måns Sandberg who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Newcastle United F.C.'s Håkan Åkesson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With a little luck, Norrlands Athen's Manfred Fribäck got control of the ball when Uno Åman tried to sneak it across the goal line. Norrlands Athen's Måns Sandberg got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Håkan Åkesson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Måns Sandberg went, in the 37th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. After a rather tough play, Norrlands Athen's Zhou Xun Ting got a free kick in the 39th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Måns Sandberg in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. The supporters of Newcastle United F.C. booed when Norrlands Athen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tord Lundin didn't get a good kick on the ball.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Fahhad Al Herz stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Håkan Åkesson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Måns Sandberg in the 60th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fahhad Al Herz in the 62nd minute of play forced Norrlands Athen's goalkeeper Manfred Fribäck to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Norrlands Athen made a substitution. Arvin Låsberg replaced Tord Lundin. After a rather tough play, Newcastle United F.C.'s David Söderlund got a free kick in the 66th minute. After 72 minutes of play, Norrlands Athen's Gilbert Hermansson made it 2-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Håkan Åkesson was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 77th minute, Gilbert Hermansson reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Håkan Åkesson. The goal made the score 2-6. When Fredrik Glanselius fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Newcastle United F.C.'s protests and gave Fredrik Glanselius a yellow card for diving instead. Fredrik Glanselius kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. 86 minutes into the game, Fahhad Al Herz cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-6. Manfred Fribäck was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Norrlands Athen's Jacinto da Silveira quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Fredrik Glanselius, made in the 91st minute of the game. 92 minutes into the match, Newcastle United F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Gilbert Hermansson came free, but Håkan Åkesson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 95 minutes into the match, Gilbert Hermansson dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Håkan Åkesson, 3-7. The Newcastle United F.C. fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Norrlands Athen were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
