Håkan Åkesson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Isac Walmarsson in the 14th minute of play forced Conjunto Paisa's goalkeeper Lev Yashin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Conjunto Paisa defense, Uno Åman kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lev Yashin. The Conjunto Paisa fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lev Yashin should have stopped the shot. Conjunto Paisa played a much better game than Newcastle United F.C. and deserved their victory. The Newcastle United F.C. players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
