After 43 played minutes Austria got a freekick which was hit by Emil Seidler. Fabio Auer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luiz Eduardo Cardozo, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Luiz Eduardo Cardozo managed to get in a good position for a shot. INTER FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Luiz Eduardo Cardozo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fabio Auer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. INTER FC made a substitution. Frits Berendt replaced Luiz Eduardo Cardozo. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 5-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Emerson Cruz was the one to do the kick off. The INTER FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 8-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luís Ferreira in the 96th minute of play forced Austria's goalkeeper Fabio Auer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 98 minutes into the game, Luís Ferreira cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 9-0. Fabio Auer was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.
