After a rather tough play, Borussia Dortmund MZB's Oswaldo Rossi got a free kick in the 19th minute. Ronaldo Pirani charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. After the first half Palestra do Interior were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

José Vítor Coelho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nelsinho Marinho in the 55th minute of the match. In the 84th minute, Richard Ríos sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Borussia Dortmund MZB's José Vítor Coelho didn't even have to move. Nelsinho Marinho might have been able to make a better finish in the 86th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over José Vítor Coelho. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out.
