An unexpectedly hard shot by Bernt Löfgren in the 17th minute of play forced Marzagão's goalkeeper Herbert Valler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 21st minute Göran Allbom shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Herbert Valler saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Herbert Valler took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arne Linberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 30 minutes into the game, Marzagão's Murillo do Valle nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Eros André made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. 33 minutes into the match, Marzagão's Murillo do Valle sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eros André narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
