Zigmantas Gimbutas took the ball and in the 5 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ivo Guterres. Ivo Guterres dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Antonio Adán showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Raul Leal in the 8th minute of the match. In the 12th minute, Serafim Garcez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Antonio Adán made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vasco Brás in the 20th minute of play. SC Freiburg 09's Ivo Guterres proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save SC Freiburg 09 from getting a goal against them. After 30 minutes, Serafim Garcez mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Freiburg 09 and the SC Braga players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, SC Freiburg 09's Serafim Garcez got a free kick in the 30th minute. 31 minutes into the match, Zigmantas Gimbutas notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of SC Freiburg 09's Ivo Guterres. Ivo Guterres was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ivo Guterres showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zigmantas Gimbutas in the 36th minute of the match. After taking down the ball on SC Braga's corner André Jordão fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Ivo Guterres quite easily take care of the ball. Caio Sampaio charged in rather forcefully in the 41st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Caio Sampaio the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 41 played minutes SC Freiburg 09 got a freekick which was hit by Caio Sampaio. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Zigmantas Gimbutas was the one to do the kick off. Ivo Guterres showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Quintino Carvalhais in the 54th minute of the match. 54 minutes into the match, SC Freiburg 09's goal looked a bit too open when Quintino Carvalhais came free, but Ivo Guterres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, SC Braga's Antonio Adán got control of the ball when Nuno Bragança tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, SC Freiburg 09's Serafim Garcez got a free kick in the 57th minute. Ivo Guterres took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zigmantas Gimbutas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 62nd minute, David Martínez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. SC Braga's Stig-Åke Mattsson was substituted for Zigmantas Gimbutas. The supporters of SC Braga booed when SC Freiburg 09 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. David Martínez didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 64 minutes, Charl De Metser managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Braga's supporters crossed their fingers, but Charl De Metser was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mehmet Ferit İsmet charged in rather forcefully in the 68th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mehmet Ferit İsmet the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to SC Freiburg 09 getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Mehmet Ferit İsmet hit a great ball. When SC Braga's Stig-Åke Mattsson in the 69th minute got a chance for a shot 69th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. It was Charl De Metser who took care of the corner kick. Antonio Adán took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raul Leal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Stig-Åke Mattsson in the 79th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ivo Guterres prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 83rd minute of the match, Nuno Bragança got a very nice opportunity to score, but Antonio Adán was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 87th minute, SC Freiburg 09's Nuno Bragança ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Antonio Adán. Antonio Adán yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. Ivo Guterres showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stig-Åke Mattsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. After a defensive mix-up in SC Freiburg 09's zone, Quintino Carvalhais stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ivo Guterres came out of the goal and Quintino Carvalhais tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 93rd minute, Raul Leal made a precise shot to the right of Antonio Adán. SC Braga's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2.
