In the 11th minute Gong Zhan Chen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dida Taffarel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arlindo Rossi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nestor Paraibano in the 12th minute of play. 1-1 became the score in the 19th minute when Gong Zhan Chen elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. 26 minutes into the match, └◘RivierA▬Þauli§tA◘┘'s goal looked a bit too open when Alfredo Martins came free, but Arlindo Rossi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dida Taffarel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gong Zhan Chen in the 29th minute of the match. └◘RivierA▬Þauli§tA◘┘'s Arlindo Rossi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nestor Paraibano in the 31st minute of play. 34 minutes into the match, Marquês de Herval's goalkeeper Dida Taffarel had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gong Zhan Chen. After 36 minutes of play, Marquês de Herval's Alfredo Martins made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Arlindo Rossi was left in no man's land by his defense there! Arlindo Rossi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfredo Martins in the 39th minute of play. Arlindo Rossi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from German Cano, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. After the first half Marquês de Herval were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alfredo Martins stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 56 played minutes Marquês de Herval got a freekick which was hit by Selami Rezan. The audience was convinced that Alfredo Martins's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Arlindo Rossi was relentless in the 59th minute of the game. The supporters of Marquês de Herval booed when └◘RivierA▬Þauli§tA◘┘ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Selami Rezan helped the player get up and apologised. After 71 played minutes Marquês de Herval got a freekick which was hit by Selami Rezan. If Nestor Paraibano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marquês de Herval's Acácio Cunha was substituted for Valentin Vizitiu. Karl-Michael Fredriksson kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match.
