Oséas Trancoso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos Casemiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 4 minutes into the game, Luiz Fábio Messias threw the ball into play from the sideline. E.C. Água Santa's John Seah quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. In the 11th minute Gualterio Gilabert shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oséas Trancoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kiko Passos didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Douglas Berger went, in the 16th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. After a defensive mix-up in E.C. Água Santa's zone, Michael Ballack stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kiko Passos came out of the goal and Michael Ballack tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Carlos Casemiro came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the E.C. Água Santa fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carlos Casemiro couldn't finish the play. Luiz Fábio Messias charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Luiz Fábio Messias the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 23rd minute, Luiz Fábio Messias hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Valdomiro Rosado hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. If Carlos Casemiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 47th minute the ball was on its way in behind AMÉRICA F.C.'s goalkeeper Oséas Trancoso, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Silvinho Pinheiro to strike the kick off in the second half. AMÉRICA F.C.'s Oséas Trancoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gualterio Gilabert in the 51st minute of play. Gualterio Gilabert blasted a shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Oséas Trancoso having to make a save. AMÉRICA F.C.'s Oséas Trancoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Casemiro in the 59th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gualterio Gilabert in the 64th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Oséas Trancoso prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Gualterio Gilabert might have been able to make a better finish in the 67th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Oséas Trancoso. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gualterio Gilabert ran back to his position shaking his head. E.C. Água Santa made a substitution. Jonas Fernandes replaced Thiago Barros. With a little luck, AMÉRICA F.C.'s Oséas Trancoso got control of the ball when Gualterio Gilabert tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 73rd minute, Antonio Carlos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 77th match minute, AMÉRICA F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Moisés Camargo to maneuver through the defense. Gualterio Gilabert who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 78thth minute tested the skills of Oséas Trancoso when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 79th minute, Moisés Camargo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match had gone on for 80 minutes, Gualterio Gilabert took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Oséas Trancoso to make any attempt to save it. 87 minutes into the match, AMÉRICA F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Casemiro came free, but Oséas Trancoso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gualterio Gilabert sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After having played for 90 minutes, Enrico Santovito managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. E.C. Água Santa's supporters crossed their fingers, but Enrico Santovito was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 92nd minute, Gualterio Gilabert left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The E.C. Água Santa fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Valdomiro Rosado was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 95 minutes into the match.
