The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 10th minute, Chicão Travassos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Santanna's Isaltino Botelho got a free kick in the 13th minute. In the 14th play minute Tiago Gabriel Castro came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Hélio Leão. 1-0. 18 minutes into the match, Avelinos's goal looked a bit too open when Mário Schmidt came free, but Genílson Pontes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 19th minute Luiz Fábio Dionísio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Genílson Pontes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Santanna's defense didn't have a chance, in the 22nd minute, when Luisão Linhares scored to the left of an out of position Hélio Leão, making the score, 2-0. In the 26th minute Isaltino Botelho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Genílson Pontes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Santanna's zone, Iuri Bittencourt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hélio Leão came out of the goal and Iuri Bittencourt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hélio Leão didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Avelinos's Maicon Breckenfeld shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 3-0 in the ordered_time% minute. 38 minutes into the game, Avelinos's Iuri Bittencourt nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Hélio Leão made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. Dorian Fernandez hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. José Maria Mota took the ball and in the 45 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Genílson Pontes. Genílson Pontes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-1. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-1.

The wind increased when Maicon Breckenfeld made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Santanna's José Maria Mota got a free kick in the 52nd minute. If Tiago Gabriel Castro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 63rd minute, João Francisco Guedes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 64th minute Cláudio Schmidt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Genílson Pontes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 66th minute Iuri Bittencourt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hélio Leão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 67 minutes into the game, Avelinos's Maicon Breckenfeld nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Santanna's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Cláudio Schmidt in the 71st minute. After some careless play in the Avelinos defense, Chicão Travassos kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Genílson Pontes. The Avelinos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Genílson Pontes should have stopped the shot. Genílson Pontes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mário Schmidt, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. Mário Schmidt did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 5-3 to the left of a surprised Genílson Pontes 78 minutes into the match. Isaltino Botelho took the ball and in the 86 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Genílson Pontes. Genílson Pontes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-4. Arí Leal hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Maicon Breckenfeld sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 93 played minutes Avelinos got a freekick which was hit by Dorian Fernandez. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Avelinos had won after a very even match.
