Marquês de Herval's Valentin Vizitiu was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Hansjörg Wastl in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Marquês de Herval's Dida Taffarel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save Marquês de Herval from getting a goal against them. In the 16th minute of the match Treze Futebol Clube CIMZ got a corner. Marquês de Herval's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Recep Talha Keskin ran over to the corner to take the kick. Treze Futebol Clube CIMZ's Recep Talha Keskin was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Dida Taffarel in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The supporters of Marquês de Herval booed when Treze Futebol Clube CIMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís Fabiano Sena didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hansjörg Wastl came out of the goal in the 22nd minute to try and stop a shot by Marquês de Herval's Nestor Paraibano. But to his dismay, Nestor Paraibano quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 25th minute Norberto Prata shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dida Taffarel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dida Taffarel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luís Fabiano Sena in the 29th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Norberto Prata kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Dida Taffarel. That made the score 1-1 in the 29 minute of play. When Treze Futebol Clube CIMZ's Norberto Prata in the 33rd minute got a chance for a shot 33rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Marquês de Herval's goalie prevented a goal. Hansjörg Wastl made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nestor Paraibano in the 42nd minute of play. In the 45th minute, Gao Xiang Guang hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Recep Talha Keskin's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dida Taffarel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Dida Taffarel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Naldo Valladares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marquês de Herval's Dida Taffarel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yan Schmidt in the 57th minute of play. Hansjörg Wastl made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nestor Paraibano in the 64th minute. After 66 played minutes Marquês de Herval's Nestor Paraibano stole the ball from his opponents and shot the ball towards the upper left corner, but Hansjörg Wastl stretched himself as far as he could, and stopped the ball from passing the line. robbing Treze Futebol Clube CIMZ of the goal. Jair Bostan replaced Selami Rezan. Yan Schmidt took the ball and in the 97 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dida Taffarel. Dida Taffarel dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2.
