Lara Peñaranda stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Niilo Mikkola's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Antônio Souto during the 28th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Beneficiente's Antônio Souto got a free kick in the 28th minute. In the 31st match minute, Beneficiente was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cesinha Aparecido to maneuver through the defense. Niilo Mikkola's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lara Peñaranda read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. Niilo Mikkola made a great header on SeleSantos FC's corner, it was just that Beneficiente's Lara Peñaranda managed to reach the ball for a save. SeleSantos FC's Jacobo Casado got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Beneficiente's Lara Peñaranda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Niilo Mikkola in the 43rd minute of play. Edgar Appel could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Dinei Pinheiro made a huge save. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
Dinei Pinheiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Antônio Souto, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. After 54 played minutes Beneficiente got a freekick which was hit by Augusto Godoi. 59 minutes into the match, Beneficiente's goalkeeper Lara Peñaranda had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Niilo Mikkola. Lara Peñaranda took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Niilo Mikkola, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Leif Törnqvist might have been able to make a better finish in the 67th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Lara Peñaranda. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Leif Törnqvist ran back to his position shaking his head. Niilo Mikkola who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 67thth minute tested the skills of Lara Peñaranda when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Dinei Pinheiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edgar Appel in the 70th minute of play. Zézinho Paulista fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dinei Pinheiro having to interfere. 74 minutes into the game, Niilo Mikkola recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Lara Peñaranda. Niilo Mikkola showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-6. In the 80th minute, Joélson Pitta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 85th minute Niilo Mikkola shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lara Peñaranda saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Beneficiente getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Zé Pedro Viana hit a great ball. Lara Peñaranda made a fantastic save in the 89th minute, when Niilo Mikkola sent off a good shot on target. Cesinha Aparecido charged in rather forcefully in the 91st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cesinha Aparecido the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play.
