The 27 de Mayo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Luís Guilherme de Lara should have stopped the shot. 19 minutes into the match, Que se abra o mar's goal looked a bit too open when Kauan Amaral came free, but Sandro Tepedino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sandro Tepedino was out of position in the 20 minute of play, and Ciro Gaspar capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Ciro Gaspar really showed his touch with that goal: 1-3. Lando Norin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Guilherme de Lara having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Tato Vega's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luís Guilherme de Lara was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. Luís Guilherme de Lara made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lando Norin in the 27th minute of play. 27 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Que se abra o mar's Lando Norin fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. In the 27th minute, Tato Vega ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Luís Guilherme de Lara was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. 30 minutes into the match, Albertinho Andrade had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Luís Guilherme de Lara. 27 de Mayo's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Albertinho Andrade was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-5. 27 de Mayo's Luís Guilherme de Lara played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bebeto Pimenta in the 33rd minute of play. 36 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Que se abra o mar's Tato Vega fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. Tato Vega struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Luís Guilherme de Lara didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Que se abra o mar. 27 de Mayo were furious when Falcão Leme was red carded, 40 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 40 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for 27 de Mayo! In the 42nd minute there was a penalty for Que se abra o mar. Tato Vega took the ball and in the 45 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Luís Guilherme de Lara. Luís Guilherme de Lara dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-7. Luís Guilherme de Lara showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tato Vega in the 49th minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-7 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hélio Pernambucano was the one to do the kick off. Ivar Eriksson scored 1-8 in the 53rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Luís Guilherme de Lara, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Luís Guilherme de Lara was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the match clock showed 91 minutes, the score became 1-16 when Ronaldo Wu sped through 27 de Mayo's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Luís Guilherme de Lara.
