Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 23 minutes into the match, Válbson de Alcântara had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rogério Soberano. 27 de Mayo's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Válbson de Alcântara was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. Gilmar Garcia didn't get a good kick on the ball. Aírton de Lima showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claudinei Tasso in the 45th minute of the match. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Edmílson Mattos charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The audience thought a goal was coming when Válbson de Alcântara got free with Rogério Soberano in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The crowd rose to their feet as Motta Futebol Clube's Artur Sabóia slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Rogério Soberano. That made the score 2-4 after 94 minutes of play. The 27 de Mayo fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Motta Futebol Clube were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
