The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. 39 minutes into the match, FC St. Pauli's goal looked a bit too open when Germán Cano came free, but Elder Vergílio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 46th match minute, 27 de Mayo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jarne Vrancken to maneuver through the defense. After the first half 27 de Mayo were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Claudinei Tasso to make the kick off. Elder Vergílio was a little too slow when Claudinei Tasso got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 52nd minute. The score was now 0-4. Elder Vergílio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Germán Cano in the 85th minute of the match. 27 de Mayo were awarded a corner in the 86th minute after FC St. Pauli's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Bebeto Branco took the corner. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Germán Cano advanced and headed the ball into goal, 0-8 in the 86th minute. If Lucas Zagalo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Elder Vergílio was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Claudinei Tasso showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-9 in the 95 minute of play. The FC St. Pauli manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing 27 de Mayo to win.
