Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 10 minutes into the match, Marquês de Herval's goal looked a bit too open when Habib Ali Picavea came free, but Dida Taffarel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marquês de Herval's Dida Taffarel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 13th minute of the match, managed to save Marquês de Herval from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, Morro Grande E.C's Jorge Sá got a free kick in the 19th minute. 28 minutes had been played when some careless play by Morro Grande E.C's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Gao Xiang Guang was slow to take the kick. During this time Marquês de Herval's players had a chance to rest. Jorge Sá thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Gláuber Brodel, a very annoying self made goal in the 29th minute which led to 0-2. Gláuber Brodel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alfredo Martins in the 32nd minute of the match. Morro Grande E.C's Gláuber Brodel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nestor Paraibano in the 34th minute of play. German Cano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gláuber Brodel having to interfere. Gláuber Brodel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from German Cano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 45 played minutes Morro Grande E.C got a freekick which was hit by Alfredinho Vieira. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

When Nestor Paraibano fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Marquês de Herval's protests and gave Nestor Paraibano a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Morro Grande E.C booed when Marquês de Herval was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nestor Paraibano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gláuber Brodel made an important save on a dangerous shot by German Cano in the 55th minute. With a little luck, Morro Grande E.C's Gláuber Brodel got control of the ball when Nestor Paraibano tried to sneak it across the goal line. 58 minutes had been played when some careless play by Morro Grande E.C's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. In the 68th minute, Toninho Grau hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gláuber Brodel made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Gao Xiang Guang sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredo Martins in the 70th minute of play forced Morro Grande E.C's goalkeeper Gláuber Brodel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alfredo Martins received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Gláuber Brodel came out and tried to block the shot, but Alfredo Martins slotted it home off the left post making it 0-5 in the 71st minute. Marquês de Herval made a substitution. Jair Bostan replaced Selami Rezan. In the 76th match minute, Morro Grande E.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcos Ramalho to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredo Martins in the 77th minute of play forced Morro Grande E.C's goalkeeper Gláuber Brodel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gláuber Brodel didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alfredo Martins went, in the 87th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-8 was the resulting score. 93 minutes into the match, Morro Grande E.C's goal looked a bit too open when Alfredo Martins came free, but Gláuber Brodel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marquês de Herval's Murilo Hoffmann was substituted for Alfredo Martins. 94 minutes into the game, one of Marquês de Herval:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Morro Grande E.C a penalty, 97 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Toninho Grau, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Marquês de Herval's Dida Taffarel. 1-8. Marquês de Herval's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
