In the 6th minute of the match, Acácio Neto got a very nice opportunity to score, but Karl-Axel Jansson was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Zhang Chen Chuan took the ball and in the 9 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Edson Bertassi. Edson Bertassi dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. After 13 minutes, Kléberson Camargo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Carrapichel - FDFDF and the Academia Santista CIMZ players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Carrapichel - FDFDF getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Kléberson Camargo hit a great ball. After 15 played minutes Academia Santista CIMZ got a freekick which was hit by Ruy Motta. Karl-Axel Jansson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Acácio Neto in the 20th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dráusio de Queirós in the 25th minute of play forced Carrapichel - FDFDF's goalkeeper Edson Bertassi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Beto Cavalcante fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Carrapichel - FDFDF's protests and gave Beto Cavalcante a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Carrapichel - FDFDF getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Beto Cavalcante hit a great ball. Academia Santista CIMZ's attentive Ruy Motta managed to snatch the ball when Eriberto Almeida made a throw-in in the 28th minute of the game. Edson Bertassi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mané Garrinchinha, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Rogério Alcântara kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. If Mané Garrinchinha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mané Garrinchinha in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Edson Bertassi saved Carrapichel - FDFDF from getting behind. Karl-Axel Jansson made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Acácio Neto sent off a good shot on target. In the 43rd minute, Mané Garrinchinha left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Academia Santista CIMZ fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Mané Garrinchinha to strike the kick off in the second half. Mané Garrinchinha scored 0-4 in the 51st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Edson Bertassi, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Edson Bertassi made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when Mané Garrinchinha sent off a good shot on target. Karl-Axel Jansson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Acácio Neto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Academia Santista CIMZ's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
