Pedrinho de Queirós showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfredo Martins, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that German Cano couldn't finish the play. Dida Taffarel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ole-Johan Larsen in the 19th minute of the match. After 23 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Alfa FC! Pedrinho de Queirós had in the 25thth minute some difficulties stopping Gao Xiang Guang's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Gao Xiang Guang did an outstanding performance 25 minutes into the match, when he by himself got past the opposing team's defense and with a quick scored 0-1 to the right of an irritated Pedrinho de Queirós in the goal. Dida Taffarel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ole-Johan Larsen in the 31st minute. Ole-Johan Larsen received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Dida Taffarel came out and tried to block the shot, but Ole-Johan Larsen slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 31st minute. Pedrinho de Queirós made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfredo Martins in the 38th minute of play. Alfredo Martins might have been able to make a better finish in the 40th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pedrinho de Queirós. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alfredo Martins ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 40th minute Alfredo Martins shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedrinho de Queirós saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Lázaro Galtero fell near the penalty area in the 40th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Alfa FC's protests and gave Lázaro Galtero a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Marquês de Herval booed when Alfa FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lázaro Galtero didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pedrinho de Queirós took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alfredo Martins, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredo Martins in the 43rd minute of play forced Alfa FC's goalkeeper Pedrinho de Queirós to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pedrinho de Queirós made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfredo Martins in the 46th minute of play. Pedrinho de Queirós didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alfredo Martins went, in the 48th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 57th match minute, Alfa FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nando de Sousa to maneuver through the defense. If German Cano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 64th match minute, Alfa FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ciro Luz to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Alfredo Martins managed to get in a good position for a shot. Marquês de Herval's supporters rose to their feet, but Alfredo Martins was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. In the 85th minute, Alfredo Martins got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Pedrinho de Queirós didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jair Bostan went, in the 87th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. After some careless play in the Alfa FC defense, Alfredo Martins kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Pedrinho de Queirós. The Alfa FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Pedrinho de Queirós should have stopped the shot. 94 minutes into the match, Alfredo Martins had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Pedrinho de Queirós. Alfa FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alfredo Martins was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-5. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Marquês de Herval eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
