Caldebrazza's Alessandro Linares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Selami Rezan in the 17th minute of play. In the 20th minute Alfredo Martins shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alessandro Linares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 23 minutes into the match, Caldebrazza's goal looked a bit too open when Alfredo Martins came free, but Alessandro Linares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marquês de Herval's Dida Taffarel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hugo Lucian in the 24th minute of play. Dida Taffarel made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Zé Roberto Moreno sent off a good shot on target. In the 30th minute Hugo Lucian shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dida Taffarel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alessandro Linares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alfredo Martins, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 38th minute, Alfredo Martins ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alessandro Linares was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. 46 minutes into the match, Marquês de Herval's Alfredo Martins sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alessandro Linares narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alfredo Martins stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Dida Taffarel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zé Roberto Moreno in the 63rd minute of play. Zé Roberto Moreno received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Dida Taffarel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Caldebrazza's Stergios Stefanoulis was substituted for Hugo Lucian. Alessandro Linares didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alfredo Martins went, in the 72nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. In the 88th minute the ball was on its way in behind Caldebrazza's goalkeeper Alessandro Linares, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Marquês de Herval walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
