Toninho Grau's late challenge caught a Inazuma Japan's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Toninho Grau helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Inazuma Japan's Fred Cardozo got a free kick in the 13th minute. In the 16th minute Cacá Mesquita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gláuber Brodel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gláuber Brodel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulo Renato Paiva in the 18th minute of play. In the 19th minute, Habib Ali Picavea hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Zé Vieira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Habib Ali Picavea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cacá Mesquita hit a great ball. 41 minutes into the game, one of Morro Grande E.C:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 47th minute Habib Ali Picavea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Vieira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Habib Ali Picavea to strike the kick off in the second half. Gláuber Brodel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joaquim Maranhense in the 53rd minute of the match. A collision led to Morro Grande E.C getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Elói Penha hit a great ball. 62 minutes into the game, Joaquim Maranhense cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Gláuber Brodel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Hélder Velasco's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Zé Vieira read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 67th minute of play. But to his dismay, Paulo Renato Paiva quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. Morro Grande E.C made a substitution. Toninho Soeiro replaced Kaká Sampaio. In the 77th minute, Hélder Velasco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 80th minute, Bernardo Mesquita hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Inazuma Japan's Zé Vieira proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to save Inazuma Japan from getting a goal against them. Zé Vieira stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Habib Ali Picavea's shot from short distance in the 87th minute. 89 minutes into the match, Inazuma Japan's goalkeeper Zé Vieira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Habib Ali Picavea. In the 90th minute, Habib Ali Picavea got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gláuber Brodel didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cacá Mesquita went, in the 92nd minute, to the upper right corner, 5-1 was the resulting score. Inazuma Japan's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
