Didi Vergílio could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Thommy Jadis made a huge save. Alfredo Macedo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mário Maradona, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Egídio Vaz to make the kick off. Nova Era's Egídio Vaz got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nova Era's Alfredo Macedo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Nova Era from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eliézer Vianna got free with Alfredo Macedo in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Nova Era's Alfredo Macedo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eliézer Vianna in the 61st minute of play.
