The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Club Universidad Nacional's Angel Morales got a good chance for a goal in the 5th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 9 played minutes Club Universidad Nacional got a freekick which was hit by Karel Šnajdr. 15 minutes into the match, Cavaliers FC's goal looked a bit too open when Steffen Gimlinge came free, but Cornelio Villegas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Cavaliers FC defense, Steffen Gimlinge kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cornelio Villegas. The Cavaliers FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cornelio Villegas should have stopped the shot. The throw-in from Severo Tohias in the 21st minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Club Universidad Nacional's Eustaquio Mede. Cavaliers FC's Efrain Villegas quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Ziyäddin Cabbarov, made in the 23rd minute of the game. Cavaliers FC's Sebastián Villa got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 27th minute, Sebastián Villa made a precise shot to the right of Arnoud de Pelsmakere. Club Universidad Nacional's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Arnoud de Pelsmakere stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sebastián Villa's shot from short distance in the 31st minute. After some careless play in the Cavaliers FC defense, Steffen Gimlinge kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cornelio Villegas. The Cavaliers FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cornelio Villegas should have stopped the shot. In the 37th minute, Sebastián Villa left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cavaliers FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. Sebastián Villa struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Arnoud de Pelsmakere didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cavaliers FC. 46 minutes into the match, Club Universidad Nacional's Steffen Gimlinge sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cornelio Villegas narrowly saved just below the crossbar.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Steffen Gimlinge was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Steffen Gimlinge in the 51st minute of play forced Cavaliers FC's goalkeeper Cornelio Villegas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Arnoud de Pelsmakere made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sebastián Villa in the 57th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Cavaliers FC's zone, Steffen Gimlinge stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cornelio Villegas came out of the goal and Steffen Gimlinge tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Club Universidad Nacional made a substitution. Feliciano Frans replaced Steffen Gimlinge. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sebastián Villa in the 65th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arnoud de Pelsmakere prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 65 minutes, Sebastián Villa made it 3-2 with a short kick to the right side. Club Universidad Nacional's Arnoud de Pelsmakere tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Feliciano Frans who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 70thth minute tested the skills of Cornelio Villegas when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Arnoud de Pelsmakere made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sebastián Villa in the 72nd minute of play. Cornelio Villegas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eustaquio Mede, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ambrosio Iratxo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Arnoud de Pelsmakere having to make a save. Arnoud de Pelsmakere showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sebastián Villa, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. Sebastián Villa took the ball and in the 80 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Arnoud de Pelsmakere. Arnoud de Pelsmakere dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gerardo Nesto got free with Cornelio Villegas in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 87 minutes into the match, Cavaliers FC's goal looked a bit too open when Gerardo Nesto came free, but Cornelio Villegas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cornelio Villegas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eustaquio Mede, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Cavaliers FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Club Universidad Nacional had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
