In the 4thth minute of the game Martín Palermo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but AIF's Olov Linquist was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Leonardo Hydén kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. Olov Linquist had great luck who in the 7thth minute grab hold of the ball when Martín Palermo from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. 9 minutes into the match, AIF's Erik Odin sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Daniel Păvăloae narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Daniel Păvăloae didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Erik Odin went, in the 9th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. When Mark Forsberg fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored AIF's protests and gave Mark Forsberg a yellow card for diving instead. After 11 played minutes AIF got a freekick which was hit by Mark Forsberg. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Martín Palermo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Metal Juniors's supporters rose to their feet, but Martín Palermo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Olov Linquist breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The crowd rose to their feet as Metal Juniors's Martín Palermo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Olov Linquist. That made the score 1-1 after 18 minutes of play. In the 24th minute, Emilio Bibiano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Olov Linquist didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Martín Palermo went, in the 26th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. If Leopoldo Itzaina had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Martín Palermo might have been able to make a better finish in the 31st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Olov Linquist. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Martín Palermo ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Martín Palermo in the 31st minute of play forced AIF's goalkeeper Olov Linquist to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Metal Juniors's Daniel Păvăloae played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emanuel Månsson in the 34th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfred Sandström in the 35th minute of play forced Metal Juniors's goalkeeper Daniel Păvăloae to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Martín Palermo struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Olov Linquist didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Metal Juniors. After a rather tough play, Metal Juniors's Gervasio Favila got a free kick in the 43rd minute. After 44 played minutes AIF got a freekick which was hit by Leonardo Hydén. Metal Juniors's Martín Palermo got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alfred Sandström made a kick off. Leonardo Hydén kicked well hit freekick during the 50th minute of the match. Daniel Păvăloae took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emanuel Månsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 58 minutes into the match, AIF's goal looked a bit too open when Martín Palermo came free, but Olov Linquist reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 59th minute, Emilio Bibiano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Martín Palermo in the 62nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Olov Linquist saved AIF from getting behind. The supporters of AIF booed when Metal Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gaspar Gerazan didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 67th minute Martín Palermo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olov Linquist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Olov Linquist didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Martín Palermo went, in the 76th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. Metal Juniors made a substitution. Sergio Dennis replaced Martín Palermo. Yani Abalos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Olov Linquist having to interfere. In the 85th minute, Sergio Dennis left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Metal Juniors fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-1. 93 minutes into the match, Sergio Dennis notched a goal, 5-1, to the right of AIF's Olov Linquist. Olov Linquist was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The Metal Juniors players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
