An unexpectedly hard shot by Hicham Djamel in the 3rd minute of play forced AFC Eskilstuna's goalkeeper Claes Nordmark to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 5 minutes into the game, Stefan Wiberg was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. AFC Eskilstuna's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Kashima Antlers the free kick. Stefan Wiberg hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. In the 6th minute, Hicham Djamel made a precise shot to the right of Claes Nordmark. AFC Eskilstuna's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Nils-Åke Willig fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Farès Zarabi having to interfere. In the 16th minute Rolf Ekström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Farès Zarabi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Faouzi Boniche fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Claes Nordmark having to interfere. 28 minutes into the match, Kashima Antlers's goalkeeper Farès Zarabi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rolf Ekström. Claes Nordmark made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hicham Djamel in the 31st minute of play. Faouzi Boniche took the ball and in the 35 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Claes Nordmark. Claes Nordmark dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hicham Djamel in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Claes Nordmark saved AFC Eskilstuna from getting behind. Hicham Djamel recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 45 minutes into the match, Hicham Djamel notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of AFC Eskilstuna's Claes Nordmark. Claes Nordmark was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Rolf Ekström made the kick off in the second half. The referee felt a red card was in order, 53 minutes into the game, when Abdulhamid Aït Salem put in a rough tackle. 52 minutes into the game, one of Kashima Antlers:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 54th minute there was a penalty for AFC Eskilstuna. Nils-Åke Willig stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Farès Zarabi. 1-4. 57 minutes into the game, AFC Eskilstuna's Jörn Malmgren nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Farès Zarabi made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-4. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Jörn Malmgren managed to get in a good position for a shot. AFC Eskilstuna's supporters rose to their feet, but Jörn Malmgren was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Farès Zarabi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Kashima Antlers getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Faouzi Boniche hit a great ball. After 77 played minutes AFC Eskilstuna got a freekick which was hit by Jörn Malmgren. Hicham Djamel who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 85thth minute tested the skills of Claes Nordmark when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Stefan Wiberg kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. Hicham Djamel in the 87thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Claes Nordmark, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. When the match had gone on for 91 minutes, Hicham Djamel took a quick shot and it went in 2-5 without a chance for Claes Nordmark to make any attempt to save it. In the 97th minute, Stefan Wiberg made a precise shot to the right of Farès Zarabi. Kashima Antlers's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-5. The Kashima Antlers players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
