After a rather tough play, Kashima Antlers's Abdulhamid Aït Salem got a free kick in the 8th minute. After 11 minutes of play, Курск ФК's Nikita Bessonov made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Af the end of the first half the score was 5-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Dmitriy Donaurov's late challenge caught a Kashima Antlers's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Курск ФК's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
