The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Kaplan's Emilian Martinez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valdomiro de Godoi in the 3rd minute of play. In the 4th match minute, Kaplan was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luke Toussain to maneuver through the defense. In the 7th minute Valdomiro de Godoi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emilian Martinez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Valdomiro de Godoi struck a weak shot in the 8th minute. Emilian Martinez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Romando Futebol Clube. André Sundström's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Emilian Martinez read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 11th minute of play. Romando Futebol Clube's attentive Juninho Paulista managed to snatch the ball when Domonkos Váczi made a throw-in in the 22nd minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valdomiro de Godoi in the 23rd minute of play forced Kaplan's goalkeeper Emilian Martinez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 24th minute Valdomiro de Godoi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emilian Martinez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 26 minutes Kaplan's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Juninho Paulista who took care of the corner kick. In the 28th minute Romando Futebol Clube were awarded a corner. Juninho Paulista went to the cornerflag to take it. It was a well-played corner which Valdomiro de Godoi managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Emilian Martinez came out of the goal in the 30th minute to try and stop a shot by Romando Futebol Clube's Valdomiro de Godoi. But to his dismay, Valdomiro de Godoi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 32 minutes into the match, Kaplan's goal looked a bit too open when André Sundström came free, but Emilian Martinez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luke Toussain hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Diego Armando Santirso could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Rubén-Osvaldo Cousillas made a huge save. Diego Armando Santirso who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 36thth minute tested the skills of Rubén-Osvaldo Cousillas when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The supporters of Romando Futebol Clube booed when Kaplan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teodosio Erramu didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 46th minute, Valdomiro de Godoi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. André Sundström hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. After the first half Romando Futebol Clube were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Valdomiro de Godoi stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Valdomiro de Godoi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emilian Martinez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 54th minute the ball was on its way in behind Kaplan's goalkeeper Emilian Martinez, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Valdomiro de Godoi in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Emilian Martinez saved Kaplan from getting behind. In the 66th minute Pascual Burni shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rubén-Osvaldo Cousillas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Emilian Martinez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Valdomiro de Godoi in the 67th minute of the match. 69 minutes into the match, Romando Futebol Clube's Valdomiro de Godoi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Emilian Martinez narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a little luck, Kaplan's Emilian Martinez got control of the ball when Valdomiro de Godoi tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Valdomiro de Godoi got free with Emilian Martinez in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 84th minute Damião Granja shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rubén-Osvaldo Cousillas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rubén-Osvaldo Cousillas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Damião Granja, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Niva Bellido sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 94 minutes into the match, Romando Futebol Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Diego Armando Santirso came free, but Rubén-Osvaldo Cousillas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rubén-Osvaldo Cousillas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Diego Armando Santirso in the 96th minute of play. The Romando Futebol Clube supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Romando Futebol Clube would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
