But to his dismay, Hristo Stoichkov quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 20th minute Luciano Victoro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jesus Sayveon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Athletico Picapedrense's Jesus Sayveon proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save Athletico Picapedrense from getting a goal against them. After 25 played minutes Athletico Picapedrense got a freekick which was hit by Eloi Fontanella. Hristo Stoichkov might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Emilian Martinez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hristo Stoichkov ran back to his position shaking his head. Emilian Martinez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hristo Stoichkov in the 33rd minute of play. Hristo Stoichkov blasted a shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Emilian Martinez having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hristo Stoichkov in the 34th minute of play forced Kaplan's goalkeeper Emilian Martinez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Athletico Picapedrense's Jesus Sayveon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pascual Burni in the 36th minute of play. Athletico Picapedrense's Hristo Stoichkov got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Hristo Stoichkov came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Athletico Picapedrense fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hristo Stoichkov couldn't finish the play. Jesus Sayveon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from 任志克 in the 43rd minute of play. In the 47th minute, Hristo Stoichkov got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell 任志克 to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute Athletico Picapedrense were awarded a corner. Kaplan's Damião Granja was substituted for Luciano Victoro. Eloi Fontanella sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Emilian Martinez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eloi Fontanella, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. 71 minutes into the match, Athletico Picapedrense's Hristo Stoichkov sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Emilian Martinez narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jesus Sayveon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diego Armando Santirso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Coronel Ribas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Kaplan supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Athletico Picapedrense's performance. The match ended with a win for Athletico Picapedrense.
