New York Red Bulls's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Romando Futebol Clube the free kick. Piers Amos hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. If Valdomiro de Godoi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Valdomiro de Godoi got free with Eduardo Pereyra in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Valdomiro de Godoi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eduardo Pereyra came out of the goal in the 37th minute to try and stop a shot by Romando Futebol Clube's Valdomiro de Godoi. But to his dismay, Valdomiro de Godoi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Valdomiro de Godoi to make the kick off. In the 57th match minute, Romando Futebol Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by André Sundström to maneuver through the defense. Romando Futebol Clube made a substitution. The Romando Futebol Clube fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. In the 72nd minute, New York Red Bulls's Nazım Taci dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-1. In the 75th minute, Ion Neguțu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 76 minutes into the match, New York Red Bulls's goal looked a bit too open when André Sundström came free, but Eduardo Pereyra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Niva Bellido in the 78th minute of play forced New York Red Bulls's goalkeeper Eduardo Pereyra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nazım Taci hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. Rubén-Osvaldo Cousillas made an important save on a dangerous shot by Benni Farbøl in the 82nd minute. Eduardo Pereyra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Niva Bellido, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. Nazım Taci charged in rather forcefully in the 88th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nazım Taci the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to New York Red Bulls getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Nazım Taci hit a great ball. After 89 minutes of play, Romando Futebol Clube's Niva Bellido made it 4-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Eduardo Pereyra was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 96th minute Romando Futebol Clube were awarded a corner. Juninho Paulista went to the cornerflag to take it. Romando Futebol Clube's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
