With a couple of smart ball manuevers Valdomiro de Godoi in the 5th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Kasper Schmeichel saved Squadra Sulista from getting behind. Romando Futebol Clube were awarded a corner in the 7th minute after Squadra Sulista's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Juninho Paulista took the corner. Romando Futebol Clube's Juninho Paulista was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Kasper Schmeichel in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 8 minutes into the match, Romando Futebol Clube's Valdomiro de Godoi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kasper Schmeichel narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 12 minutes into the game, Valdomiro de Godoi cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Kasper Schmeichel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Valdomiro de Godoi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Romando Futebol Clube's supporters rose to their feet, but Valdomiro de Godoi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kasper Schmeichel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Romando Futebol Clube's Rubén-Osvaldo Cousillas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save Romando Futebol Clube from getting a goal against them. In the 19th minute Fernandinho Albuquerque shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rubén-Osvaldo Cousillas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Genílson Maciel's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 26thth minute, Rubén-Osvaldo Cousillas skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Romando Futebol Clube's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Juninho Paulista in the 32nd minute. At last the ball reached Valdomiro de Godoi at the corner, ending with a kick to difficult to stop for the goalkeeper of Squadra Sulista. 0-3. Kasper Schmeichel came out of the goal in the 36th minute to try and stop a shot by Romando Futebol Clube's Valdomiro de Godoi. But to his dismay, Valdomiro de Godoi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. In the 46th minute Valdomiro de Godoi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kasper Schmeichel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Fernandinho Albuquerque made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Valdomiro de Godoi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kasper Schmeichel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 54th minute, Genílson Maciel left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Squadra Sulista fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-4. Kasper Schmeichel was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Valdomiro de Godoi showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-5 in the 58 minute of play. Romando Futebol Clube's Niva Bellido was substituted for Valdomiro de Godoi. In the 62nd minute, Niva Bellido got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Kasper Schmeichel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Niva Bellido in the 67th minute of the match. Rubén-Osvaldo Cousillas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fernandinho Albuquerque in the 70th minute of the match. Kasper Schmeichel came out of the goal in the 77th minute to try and stop a shot by Romando Futebol Clube's Niva Bellido. But to his dismay, Niva Bellido quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-7. If Niva Bellido had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 86th minute, Renato Pitta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Romando Futebol Clube's Rubén-Osvaldo Cousillas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcelo Pereira in the 88th minute of play. Renato Carvalho kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. Kasper Schmeichel was a little too slow when Niva Bellido got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 90th minute. The score was now 1-8. Romando Futebol Clube's Joélson de Mendonça quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Renato Pitta, made in the 94th minute of the game. Niva Bellido received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Kasper Schmeichel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Romando Futebol Clube supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Romando Futebol Clube would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
