The audience thought a goal was coming when Felipe Santos got free with Fausto da Rocha in the 10th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Felipe Santos might have been able to make a better finish in the 12th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fausto da Rocha. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Felipe Santos ran back to his position shaking his head. Durval Marinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jan Bykowski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
