In the 9th minute Dragoş Vâtcu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Esen Sanal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Breno Vergílio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tiaguinho Correia having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Trindade Atlético Club's Maurinho Dias slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Esen Sanal. That made the score 1-0 after 13 minutes of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Víktor Magalhães in the 16th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Esen Sanal prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After having played for 18 minutes, Dragoş Vâtcu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Trindade Atlético Club's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dragoş Vâtcu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 29 minutes S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Falcão de Barros who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Korhan Kutalmış got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Esen Sanal quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Víktor Magalhães in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Esen Sanal saved S.E.R. Caxias do Sul from getting behind. The supporters of Trindade Atlético Club booed when S.E.R. Caxias do Sul was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Krisztián Véber didn't get a good kick on the ball. Esen Sanal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maurinho Dias, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Esen Sanal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dagoberto Dracena in the 34th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dragoş Vâtcu in the 38th minute of play forced S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's goalkeeper Esen Sanal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Esen Sanal was out of position in the 44 minute of play, and Víktor Magalhães capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Víktor Magalhães really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Víktor Magalhães stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Teodoro Vaz hit a great freekick 50 minutes into the match. Tiaguinho Correia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lei Feng Yan in the 53rd minute of the match. Trindade Atlético Club's Tiaguinho Correia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Breno Vergílio in the 56th minute of play. 59 minutes into the match, Trindade Atlético Club's goal looked a bit too open when Krisztián Véber came free, but Tiaguinho Correia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Víktor Magalhães sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 65th minute of the match, Krisztián Véber tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Tiaguinho Correia saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Trindade Atlético Club's Fulgencio Rius was substituted for Korhan Kutalmış. 69 minutes had been played when some careless play by S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Falcão de Barros was slow to take the kick. During this time Trindade Atlético Club's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Trindade Atlético Club's Falcão de Barros to fire away a dangerous shot which Esen Sanal despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. S.E.R. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 87th minute, Krisztián Véber hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 90th minute S.E.R. Caxias do Sul were awarded a corner. Lei Feng Yan went to the cornerflag to take it. Breno Vergílio in the 90thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Tiaguinho Correia, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 92nd minute, Dagoberto Dracena got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Trindade Atlético Club fans cheered their team off the field, for while S.E.R. Caxias do Sul had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
