The supporters of John Galt booed when Vargens FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Augusto Rico. If Sandro Caires had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Norberto Sabrosa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vivaldo Santarém made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Baltazar Noyola in the 91st minute of play. Augusto Rico didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Paulo Pádua went, in the 93rd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-3 was the resulting score. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
