Betão Pontes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stanislav Hanzel in the 3rd minute of play. Remigiusz Jaszynski hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dezider Šedivý in the 5th minute of play forced GKS Katowice's goalkeeper Betão Pontes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dezider Šedivý fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Betão Pontes having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Lada FK's Ján Farbák got a free kick in the 10th minute. Tibor Čapo's late challenge caught a GKS Katowice's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tibor Čapo helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of GKS Katowice booed when Lada FK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tibor Čapo didn't get a good kick on the ball. 16 minutes into the match, GKS Katowice's Cezary Kasiewski sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Róbert Jurčák narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a little luck, GKS Katowice's Betão Pontes got control of the ball when Tibor Čapo tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 23 played minutes Lada FK got a freekick which was hit by Stanislav Čársky. Patryk Cymbal missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 24 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Róbert Jurčák right hand side. When Remigiusz Jaszynski fell near the penalty area in the 28th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored GKS Katowice's protests and gave Remigiusz Jaszynski a yellow card for diving instead. Konrad Komanski lost his temper 29 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 31st minute there was a penalty for Lada FK. Richard Ivanič stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Betão Pontes. 1-0. Dezider Šedivý fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Betão Pontes having to interfere. Róbert Jurčák showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ludomir Zacharek, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dezider Šedivý in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Betão Pontes saved GKS Katowice from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Lada FK's zone, Ludomir Zacharek stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Róbert Jurčák came out of the goal and Ludomir Zacharek tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Ludomir Zacharek's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Róbert Jurčák was relentless in the 45th minute of the game. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dezider Šedivý to make the kick off. In the 54th minute, Remigiusz Jaszynski got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 57thth minute of the game Tibor Čapo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but GKS Katowice's Betão Pontes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Olgierd Cwojdak hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. In the 59th minute, Tibor Čapo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Dezider Šedivý came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Lada FK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dezider Šedivý couldn't finish the play. GKS Katowice's Olgierd Sokolski was substituted for Juliusz Zapolski. The audience was convinced that Dezider Šedivý's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Betão Pontes was relentless in the 66th minute of the game. In the 68th minute, Ludomir Zacharek ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Róbert Jurčák was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Betão Pontes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tibor Čapo in the 71st minute of the match. In the 78th minute, Ludomir Zacharek left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The GKS Katowice fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Ludomir Zacharek sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of GKS Katowice booed when Lada FK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stanislav Hanzel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ludomir Zacharek in the 88thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Róbert Jurčák, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. GKS Katowice played a much better game than Lada FK and deserved their victory. The Lada FK players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
