After a defensive mix-up in Barça's zone, Wilhelm Nienhaus stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edmund Makomaski came out of the goal and Wilhelm Nienhaus tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 16th minute the ball was on its way in behind Barça's goalkeeper Edmund Makomaski, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 19 minutes Barça's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Zé Paulo da Silva who took care of the corner kick. Benedikt Bensch kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. When Barça's Teobald Misiewicz in 26 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Rune Jarstein guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. Wilhelm Nienhaus could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but Edmund Makomaski made a huge save. Wilhelm Nienhaus scored 1-0 in the 33rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Edmund Makomaski, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 35 played minutes Hertha 1969 got a freekick which was hit by Jörg Hannemann. Hertha 1969's Rune Jarstein played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rafal Jazowski in the 37th minute of play. In the 39th minute the ball was on its way in behind Barça's goalkeeper Edmund Makomaski, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Teobald Misiewicz might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rune Jarstein. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Teobald Misiewicz ran back to his position shaking his head. Rune Jarstein made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pierre Dziedelonis in the 47th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Wilhelm Nienhaus made a kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Barça's goal looked a bit too open when Wilhelm Nienhaus came free, but Edmund Makomaski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 58th minute, Wilhelm Nienhaus got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 60 minutes into the match, Hertha 1969's goalkeeper Rune Jarstein had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pierre Dziedelonis. 66 minutes into the match, Hertha 1969's Wilhelm Nienhaus sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Edmund Makomaski narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 69th minute of the match Hertha 1969 got a corner. Barça's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Zé Paulo da Silva ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Hertha 1969's Zé Paulo da Silva to fire away a dangerous shot which Edmund Makomaski despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Rune Jarstein made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pierre Dziedelonis in the 71st minute of play. Wilhelm Nienhaus fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edmund Makomaski having to interfere. In the 80th minute Wilhelm Nienhaus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edmund Makomaski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had gone on for 81 minutes, Wilhelm Nienhaus put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Edmund Makomaski. 89 minutes into the game, Hertha 1969's Rupert Heidingsfelder nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Edmund Makomaski made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. Kristian Oswald made in the 92nd minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Kristian Oswald however managed to control. Edmund Makomaski showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rupert Heidingsfelder in the 93rd minute of the match. 95 minutes into the match, Hertha 1969's Rupert Heidingsfelder sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Edmund Makomaski narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Barça's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
