An unexpectedly hard shot by He Qiang in the 6th minute of play forced Congo Bongo's goalkeeper Petre Traian to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 8th minute He Qiang shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Petre Traian saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Romulo Gelacio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Damaso Sancho in the 12th minute of play. In the 14th minute Congo Bongo were awarded a corner. Özalp Yavuzalp went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on Congo Bongo's corner Gonzalo Cucho fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Romulo Gelacio quite easily take care of the ball. Petre Traian showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Petros Mousa in the 16th minute of the match. 21 minutes into the match, Congo Bongo's goal looked a bit too open when He Qiang came free, but Petre Traian reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A nice corner shot did that Narciso Vergaray got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Petre Traian quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers He Qiang in the 25th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Petre Traian saved Congo Bongo from getting behind. In the 31st minute Damaso Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Romulo Gelacio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 31st play minute Damaso Sancho came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Romulo Gelacio. 1-0. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Damaso Sancho couldn't finish the play. The supporters of INDEPENDIENTE FUTBOL CLUB booed when Congo Bongo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Omar Erramun didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Petros Mousa to strike the kick off in the second half. Damaso Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute.
