The audience was convinced that Sergio Austin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jan Motyl was relentless in the 18th minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Congo Bongo's Wu Hong Ning got a free kick in the 22nd minute. Jan Motyl took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arnaldo Oidor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The attack was good, but when Arnaldo Oidor in the 32nd minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. When the match had gone on for 36 minutes, Arnaldo Oidor put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Jan Motyl. Petre Traian made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Edward Chazen sent off a good shot on target. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Arnaldo Oidor in the 43rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jan Motyl saved Black Hołdunów from getting behind. A collision led to Congo Bongo getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Ingvar Andersson hit a great ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Edward Chazen stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Edward Chazen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Petre Traian saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Janusz Sanocki in the 54th minute of play forced Congo Bongo's goalkeeper Petre Traian to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 55 minutes had been played when some careless play by Congo Bongo's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Edward Chazen was slow to take the kick. During this time Black Hołdunów's players had a chance to rest. The corner led to Black Hołdunów's Olgierd Wojtowicz getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. 64 minutes into the match, Congo Bongo's Arnaldo Oidor sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jan Motyl narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Congo Bongo made a substitution. Damaso Sancho replaced Arnaldo Oidor. Congo Bongo were awarded a corner in the 70th minute after Black Hołdunów's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Laureano Acuña took the corner. Damaso Sancho had several of the Black Hołdunów's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 72 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-2 score and a disappointed Jan Motyl as he didn't even see the shot coming. In the 75th minute the ball was on its way in behind Black Hołdunów's goalkeeper Jan Motyl, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Petre Traian made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edward Chazen in the 77th minute of play. 78 minutes into the match, Black Hołdunów's goalkeeper Jan Motyl had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Damaso Sancho. Edward Chazen might have been able to make a better finish in the 80th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Petre Traian. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edward Chazen ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 80th minute Edward Chazen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Petre Traian saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 81 played minutes Congo Bongo got a freekick which was hit by Wu Hong Ning. Congo Bongo's Petre Traian played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edward Chazen in the 83rd minute of play. In the 83rdth minute of the game Edward Chazen who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Congo Bongo's Petre Traian was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Damaso Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Black Hołdunów's zone, Froilan Iaki stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jan Motyl came out of the goal and Froilan Iaki tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 92nd minute of the match, Damaso Sancho got a very nice opportunity to score, but Jan Motyl was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Janusz Sanocki scored 1-2 in the 93rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Petre Traian, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Damaso Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jan Motyl having to interfere. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Congo Bongo eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
