After 6 played minutes Mountainhammer United got a freekick which was hit by Elliot Haeger. In the 6th of the match, Carl Karlsson tried to place the ball in the upper right corner, but Martin Alebeck got in the way and made a wonderful save. In the 10th minute, Johannes Torstensson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 13 minutes into the match, Mountainhammer United's goal looked a bit too open when Carl Karlsson came free, but Martin Alebeck reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Staffan Lind showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Michael Käcker, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Martin Alebeck took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carl Karlsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Linköpings AIK's Carl Karlsson got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 21stth minute of the game Michael Käcker who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Linköpings AIK's Staffan Lind was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When the match clock showed 21 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Michael Käcker sped through Linköpings AIK's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Staffan Lind. If Johannes Torstensson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With 26 minutes on the clock, Sonny Brogren commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. 26 minutes into the game, one of Mountainhammer United:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The goalkeeper, Martin Alebeck, was totally fooled by Linköpings AIK's Jens-Ove Svensson, who 28 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Staffan Lind didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Folke Mellberg went, in the 35th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. When Jens-Ove Svensson fell near the penalty area in the 39th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Linköpings AIK's protests and gave Jens-Ove Svensson a yellow card for diving instead. Staffan Lind showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Michael Käcker in the 46th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Folke Mellberg in the 47th minute of play forced Linköpings AIK's goalkeeper Staffan Lind to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Michael Käcker made a kick off. Folke Mellberg received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Staffan Lind came out and tried to block the shot, but Folke Mellberg slotted it home off the left post making it 1-3 in the 55th minute. Staffan Lind didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 60th minute, which inside left pole to 1-4. 70 minutes into the match, Mountainhammer United's goal looked a bit too open when Carl Karlsson came free, but Martin Alebeck reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 71 minutes into the game, Linköpings AIK's Johannes Torstensson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Martin Alebeck made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-4. After 80 played minutes Mountainhammer United got a freekick which was hit by Oscar Kock. With a little luck, Linköpings AIK's Staffan Lind got control of the ball when Folke Mellberg tried to sneak it across the goal line. Einar Heggert kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
