In the 6th minute Matias Bilintx shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Feliberto Ipar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dante Fernendo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gabriel Efraim in the 9th minute of the match. After 12 played minutes Sporting de Gijón got a freekick which was hit by Diego Maradona. With a little luck, Sporting de Gijón's Dante Fernendo got control of the ball when Zeca Fernandez tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 15th minute of the match, Gabriel Efraim tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Dante Fernendo saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Matias Bilintx's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Feliberto Ipar read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 18th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Sporting de Gijón's Saturnino Curcio got a free kick in the 18th minute. In the 20th minute, Lucas Jimenez got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Saturnino Curcio in the 24th minute of play forced Lobos de Carelia's goalkeeper Feliberto Ipar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 27 played minutes Sporting de Gijón got a freekick which was hit by Diego Maradona. The audience was convinced that Gabriel Efraim's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dante Fernendo was relentless in the 46th minute of the game. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

After 64 played minutes Sporting de Gijón got a freekick which was hit by Matias Bilintx. Dante Fernendo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gabriel Efraim, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. In the 70th match minute, Lobos de Carelia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Prospero Perico to maneuver through the defense. Sporting de Gijón made a substitution. Through an outstanding action, after 79 minutes, Feliberto Ipar successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 81 minutes into the match, Lobos de Carelia's goalkeeper Feliberto Ipar had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Matias Bilintx. In the 87th match minute, Sporting de Gijón was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Niceto Dominix to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Venancio Emesto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sporting de Gijón's supporters rose to their feet, but Venancio Emesto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Feliberto Ipar breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a little luck, Lobos de Carelia's Feliberto Ipar got control of the ball when Aitor Tilla tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 96 minutes of play, Sporting de Gijón's Saturnino Curcio made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Feliberto Ipar was left in no man's land by his defense there! The Sporting de Gijón supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Sporting de Gijón would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
