A collision led to Al-Fajuth getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Ciro Meireles hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wilson Matorin got free with Gerardo Romelio in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

SAN LORENZO FC's Elias Tiso was substituted for Placido Laurgain. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gerardo Romelio was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-2. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gerardo Gonza during the 71st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Gerardo Gonza hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. In the 74th minute, Eliseu Alagoano left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Al-Fajuth fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 6-2. Gaspar Cordarryl could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 79th minute of the match, but Édouard Mendy made a huge save. When the match clock showed 84 minutes, the score became 7-2 when Rômulo Soares sped through SAN LORENZO FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Gerardo Romelio.
