With a little luck, San Marino İdman Yurdu's Ahmet Necdet Secavend got control of the ball when Max Mohammad tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 11th minute Serter Usal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Otto Hermansson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ahmet Necdet Secavend made a fantastic save in the 17th minute, when Claes Ahlroht sent off a good shot on target. Otto Hermansson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Serter Usal in the 21st minute of play. The wind increased when Jorge Cordeiro made the kick off in the second half. Marko Gustavsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 50th minute. Ahmet Necdet Secavend tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 56th minute Jorge Cordeiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ahmet Necdet Secavend saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Serter Usal's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Otto Hermansson firmly grabbed it by the left post. San Marino İdman Yurdu's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Newcastle United FC the free kick.
