The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Lyon 69ers's Pierre Peeters played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valdo Prado in the 6th minute of play. In the 7thth minute of the game Jon Loarte who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Lyon 69ers's Pierre Peeters was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Aloísio Lendaa in the 9th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Erasmo Urbez saved Leon Sport Club from getting behind. Erasmo Urbez stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Aloísio Lendaa's shot from short distance in the 11th minute. Aloísio Lendaa might have been able to make a better finish in the 13th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Erasmo Urbez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Aloísio Lendaa ran back to his position shaking his head. Pierre Peeters didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Giovanni Massa went, in the 22nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Tom Beaune hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. After having played for 27 minutes, Jon Loarte managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Leon Sport Club's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jon Loarte was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Erasmo Urbez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aloísio Lendaa in the 29th minute of the match. After 33 played minutes Leon Sport Club got a freekick which was hit by Kléberson Loureiro. Pierre Peeters showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcel Ramos, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. Pierre Peeters took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valdo Prado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Giovanni Massa in the 47thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Pierre Peeters, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Aloísio Lendaa made the kick off in the second half. Pierre Peeters took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valdo Prado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 57th minute Giovanni Massa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pierre Peeters saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Erasmo Urbez made a fantastic save in the 58th minute, when Aloísio Lendaa sent off a good shot on target. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Aloísio Lendaa in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Erasmo Urbez prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 62ndth minute of the game Jon Loarte who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Lyon 69ers's Pierre Peeters was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Aloísio Lendaa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Erasmo Urbez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 67 minutes into the match, Leon Sport Club's Valdo Prado sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Pierre Peeters narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Valdo Prado might have been able to make a better finish in the 70th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pierre Peeters. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Valdo Prado ran back to his position shaking his head. Leon Sport Club's Davi Alexandridis was substituted for Giovanni Massa. After 84 minutes of play, Leon Sport Club's Davi Alexandridis made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Pierre Peeters was left in no man's land by his defense there! Leon Sport Club's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Aloísio Lendaa 87 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 3-2. Leon Sport Club's Erasmo Urbez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aloísio Lendaa in the 96th minute of play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Leon Sport Club fans cheered their team off the field, for while Lyon 69ers had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
