The supporters of GeRaÇãO-83 booed when Academia Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Severo Goiz didn't get a good kick on the ball. 25 minutes into the match, Academia Club's goal looked a bit too open when Rômulo Veiga came free, but Hernan Ellande reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Remigio Jerano got free with Dieguinho Paraíba in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ren Jie Fan scored 0-1 in the 28th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Hernan Ellande, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Hernan Ellande showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ren Jie Fan in the 33rd minute of the match. A collision led to GeRaÇãO-83 getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Ruperto Enol hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ren Jie Fan in the 39th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hernan Ellande prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Severo Goiz hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. In the 47th minute, Carlos Quilino ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dieguinho Paraíba was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Remigio Jerano to strike the kick off in the second half. When Paulo Bartolome fell near the penalty area in the 53rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Academia Club's protests and gave Paulo Bartolome a yellow card for diving instead. Remigio Jerano blasted a shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dieguinho Paraíba having to make a save. GeRaÇãO-83's Carl Ancelotti was substituted for Didi Couto. Severo Goiz hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. In the 80th minute Ren Jie Fan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hernan Ellande saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hernan Ellande made a fantastic save in the 83rd minute, when Carl Ancelotti sent off a good shot on target. In the 85thth minute of the game Ren Jie Fan who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Academia Club's Hernan Ellande was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 88th minute, Ren Jie Fan made a precise shot to the right of Hernan Ellande. Academia Club's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. After a defensive mix-up in Academia Club's zone, Ren Jie Fan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hernan Ellande came out of the goal and Ren Jie Fan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The GeRaÇãO-83 supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing GeRaÇãO-83 would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
