The audience thought a goal was coming when Ignacio Scocco got free with Kleopas Plouffe in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Mauro Uchiha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Defensores de Mar de Aj贸's Kleopas Plouffe got control of the ball when Marco Ruben tried to sneak it across the goal line. Marcelo Barovero showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mauro Uchiha in the 23rd minute of the match. In the 24th minute Silverio Belo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcelo Barovero saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vladimiro Abar hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. Kleopas Plouffe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pablo Solari, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.
