The supporters of Leon Platense booed when ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benicio Seguinus didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's zone, Hernán Leandro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Branislav Velchevski came out of the goal and Hernán Leandro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Leon Platense getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Alfonso Kemen hit a great ball. Elpidio Francis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 8th minute of the match, but Ruperto Rainerio made a huge save. Rafael Dalmu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Ruperto Rainerio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alfonso Kemen kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. With a little luck, Leon Platense's Ruperto Rainerio got control of the ball when Elpidio Francis tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 24th match minute, Leon Platense was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alfonso Kemen to maneuver through the defense. Ruperto Rainerio was out of position in the 26 minute of play, and Elpidio Francis capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Elpidio Francis really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. 32 minutes had been played when some careless play by ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Hernán Leandro was slow to take the kick. During this time Leon Platense's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Leon Platense's Hernán Leandro to fire away a dangerous shot which Branislav Velchevski despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Rafael Dalmu hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. In a very dangerous position, a player in Leon Platense fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 37th minute. Penalty! Miguel Prosperi received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Ruperto Rainerio came out and tried to block the shot, but Miguel Prosperi slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 38th minute. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Branislav Velchevski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adan Menendo in the 41st minute of play. In the 46th minute the ball was on its way in behind Leon Platense's goalkeeper Ruperto Rainerio, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 48 minutes, Elpidio Francis took a quick shot and it went in 3-0 without a chance for Ruperto Rainerio to make any attempt to save it. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

In the 56th minute Miguel Prosperi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ruperto Rainerio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 58th minute, Miguel Prosperi ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ruperto Rainerio was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. In the 64th minute Elpidio Francis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ruperto Rainerio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ruperto Rainerio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Elpidio Francis's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. In the 66th minute of the match ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA got a corner. Leon Platense's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Miguel Prosperi ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led to ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Timoteo Basualdo getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Arnaldo Gabon was substituted for Miguel Prosperi. After 69 played minutes Leon Platense got a freekick which was hit by Alfonso Kemen. In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Leon Platense's goalkeeper Ruperto Rainerio, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 76th minute Elpidio Francis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ruperto Rainerio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Venancio Havier in the 78th minute. The ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA fans' excitement grew in the 80th match minute when ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Elpidio Francis looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 5-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Elpidio Francis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Elpidio Francis struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Ruperto Rainerio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA. After 92 played minutes Leon Platense got a freekick which was hit by Alfonso Kemen. Ruperto Rainerio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elpidio Francis, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. When the referee ended the match the ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
