The supporters of ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA booed when Distribuidora 25 de mayo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edelmiro Paez didn't get a good kick on the ball. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Elpidio Francis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 36th minute Elpidio Francis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rosendo Gustau saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The wind increased when Elpidio Francis made the kick off in the second half. This resulted in a 0-3 score and a disappointed Rosendo Gustau as he didn't even see the shot coming. 68 minutes into the match, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Elpidio Francis sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rosendo Gustau narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Rosendo Gustau made a fantastic save in the 72nd minute, when Elpidio Francis sent off a good shot on target. The crowd rose to their feet as Elpidio Francis kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Rosendo Gustau. That made the score 0-4 in the 74 minute of play. Venancio Havier made a great header on ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's corner, it was just that Distribuidora 25 de mayo's Rosendo Gustau managed to reach the ball for a save. Rosendo Gustau stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Elpidio Francis's shot from short distance in the 91st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elpidio Francis in the 93rd minute of play forced Distribuidora 25 de mayo's goalkeeper Rosendo Gustau to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Elpidio Francis got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
